Calendar and publishing

Content days

Nobody makes one video at a time. You block out a Saturday and shoot nine. A content day is that Saturday, with the list of what you are filming on it.

It is not a post. It never publishes, it has no channel, and it carries no media of its own. It sits on the calendar because that is where you look to find out what you are doing on Saturday.

Booking one

  1. 1Open the calendarOn the web, hover a day and press the clapperboard next to the +, or press Create → Book a shoot day from anywhere. On the phone, every day from today on carries Post and Shoot day beside the date, and the film icon beside the week arrows books one on any day of the week.
  2. 2Name itThe title edits in place, with no dialog for one line of text.
  3. 3Move itThe date above the title is a picker. Pick another day and the whole day moves with everything on it; the calendar redraws. On the phone, tap the date.
  4. 4Set the call timeWhen everyone turns up, where, and when you expect to wrap. All optional.
  5. 5Build the listEvery video you want to walk out with, in the order you will film them.

Not everything is a script

This is the part most shoot planners get wrong. A few rows are words you read on camera; most are a title and three beats you talk around. Both are first-class here, and one control switches between them.

KindWhat it isUse it for
BeatsOne line per beatThe hook, the turn, the ask: most of a shoot list
ScriptWords, verbatimAnything you will read off the teleprompter
NoteProseA setup, a reminder, a shot you want

Getting things onto a day

You can build the list here, or send things to it from where you had the thought. An idea in Ideas and a script in the Scripts tab both carry a Shoot day button: pick a shoot you have booked, or book a new one, and it lands at the end of that day's list. It goes the other way too: a row with words on it has Save to Scripts, which keeps them as their own script and points the row at it, and the Scripts tab's From a day brings in a whole list at once.

Running the day

Every row has a number, so who goes first is never in question. Drag a row to change the order. Tap the circle to mark it shot; the count at the top says 3 of 9 shot, which is the one number anybody wants mid-shoot.

On a rowMeans
The numberRunning order
A nameWho is on camera for it
~4 minHow long you think it takes; the day totals them
A struck-through titleShot
A faded rowSkipped today. Still on the list, not on today's

Sending it to a client

A content day has a link you can send to somebody who does not have MORR. They open it in a browser and see the shoot. If you let them, they can fix a line in a script themselves. That is the edit they were going to make anyway, in an email you would then have to retype.

  1. 1Open the dayThe share row sits under the title on the phone; on the web it is the strip at the top of the call sheet.
  2. 2Choose what they can doPrivate, Can read, or Can edit.
  3. 3Send itCopy the link, or use the share button on the phone.
LevelWhat the link does
PrivateNothing. Only people in the workspace can see the shoot
Can readThey see the list, the call time and every script. They cannot change anything
Can editThey can rewrite scripts, retitle videos, change who is on camera and tick rows off

Even at Can edit, the link is narrow on purpose. Nobody holding it can add a row, delete one, reorder the day, or reach anything else in your workspace: other shoots, your library and the calendar are all out of reach. It is one day and the words on it.
